Optimizing Your Google Business Profile for HVAC Success

When someone Googles "AC repair near me," your Google Business Profile is usually what they see first—not your website. If it's not optimized, you're losing leads before they even click.

The Basics (Get These Right First)

Business Name

Use your actual business name. Don't stuff keywords like "Best AC Repair Houston 24/7 Emergency Service." Google will penalize you.

Category

Primary: HVAC Contractor Secondary: Add all relevant categories (Air Conditioning Repair, Heating Contractor, etc.)

Service Area

Define the specific cities and zip codes you serve. Be accurate—appearing for areas you don't serve wastes everyone's time.

Hours

Keep these updated, especially holiday hours. Nothing frustrates customers more than calling during "open" hours and getting no answer.

Photos That Convert

Most HVAC profiles have zero photos or bad ones. Fix this:

Must-have photos:

  • Exterior of your building (helps people find you)
  • Your trucks (branded = professional)
  • Your team (people trust faces)
  • Completed installations (showcase quality work)
  • Before/after shots

Photo tips:

  • Use high-quality images (not blurry phone pics)
  • Update seasonally (shows you're active)
  • Add photos weekly if possible
  • Name files descriptively (ac-repair-houston.jpg)

Services Section

List every service you offer:

  • AC Repair
  • AC Installation
  • Heating Repair
  • Heating Installation
  • Maintenance Plans
  • Duct Cleaning
  • Emergency Service
  • etc.

For each service, add a description and price range if appropriate.

The Q&A Section

Customers can ask questions on your profile. Most businesses ignore this. Don't.

Proactively add common Q&As:

  • "Do you offer financing?"
  • "What areas do you serve?"
  • "Do you charge for estimates?"
  • "Are you available on weekends?"

Answer questions quickly when they come in.

Posts

Google Business Profile allows you to post updates, offers, and events. Use this:

  • Weekly posts keep your profile active
  • Seasonal promotions (AC tune-up specials in spring)
  • New service announcements
  • Team updates (new hire, certification)

Posts expire after 7 days, so keep them coming.

Reviews (Again)

We covered reviews in another post, but they're worth repeating here. Your review count and rating are the #1 factor in local search rankings after relevance and distance.

  • Aim for 100+ reviews
  • Maintain 4.5+ star average
  • Respond to every review (positive and negative)

Booking Integration

If you use an online scheduling tool, integrate it with your Google profile. The "Book" button appears prominently and makes it one-click for customers to schedule.

The Audit Checklist

Run through this monthly:

  • All info accurate and current?
  • Hours updated for holidays?
  • New photos added recently?
  • All reviews responded to?
  • Q&A section maintained?
  • Recent posts published?
  • Services list complete?

15 minutes per month keeps your profile optimized.
